Church Discussion This Sunday Afternoon Looks At The Virtue Of Honor

Our second Church Discussion in March will be on March 24th, at 4:00 pm. The article will be “What if Honor Is Lost Altogether?” by R. Albert Mohler, Jr. It is found in the February Tabletalk on page 26. We will meet at the home of Brent and Anette Butterfield.

Dorcas Ministry Collection For April: Piedmont Women’s Center

The Dorcas Ministry focus for April is for The Piedmont Women’s Center. We will receive monetary donations on April 21. We will be participating in their “Baby Bottle Fund Raiser.” Bottles will be available on the table in the back.

Church Nursery Volunteers Sought

The church now offers a nursery for children from infancy through age 3 during morning worship. It is the intention of the Session to provide nursery attendants from congregational volunteers on a rotating schedule. If you will agree to assist, please contact Pastor Barron.

Christ is exalted in his sitting at the right hand of God, in that as God-man he is advanced to the highest favour with God the Father, with all fulness of joy, glory, and power over all things in heaven and earth; and does gather and defend his church, and subdue their enemies; furnisheth his ministers and people with gifts and graces, and maketh intercession for them.

Sunday School: This Sunday at 9:30am in the Camellia Room, we move ahead to Nehemiah 1-2:10, looking at Nehemiah’s great humility and trust in God’s providence in the weighty task of funding and building Jerusalem’s walls and gates. Dr. Iain Duguid’s lesson in the Adult Quarterly is titled, “Nehemiah’s Request.” To get the full context, read through Chapter 4.

Sacrament Of The Lord’s Supper: On next Sunday morning, March 31, we will celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Spend time this week reflecting upon what it means to be a child of God, the sacrifice that Jesus willfully made to save you, confessing your sin, and what it means to move forward living for Him. From the church By-Laws (Article XII):
The Table is none other than Christ’s Table. He invites those who put their trust in Him to share in the feast that He has prepared. Having given His children eternal life based upon the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, God offers continual spiritual nourishment to them and sustains them in the fellowship of the body of Christ in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The participation of the entire congregation in the service (is encouraged).
 
Since no one can come to the Lord’s Table as a worthy recipient of God’s gifts, but must trust utterly that God in His graciousness will welcome those who acknowledge and repent of their unworthiness, participation in the Sacrament is to be understood as a privilege given to the repentant undeserving rather than a right conferred upon the worthy. Since this Sacrament is offered out of the fullness of God’s love, it is to be received in joyful gratitude that the power of the Gospel extends to God’s undeserving children, and thereby unites them all in a common dependence upon Him.
