Pastor Barron Returns To Preach On Isaac

Pastor Barron’s text for Sunday will be Genesis 25:19-26. His message will be titled, “A Chip Off the Old Block?”.

Associate Membership Is Now An Option To Unite With NGC

One of the changes in the By-Laws of North Greenville Church approved by the Session is the establishment of Associate Membership.

An Associate Church Member is one who is residing in our area for a period of time or expects to make periodic visits to our area, but chooses not to transfer his/her church membership from his/her home congregation. As an Associate Church Member, the individual and family have the right to the care and privileges of the Church. In congregational meetings they have voice. They also can take on responsibilities within the congregation other than being an officer of the Church with the approval of the Session. If you are interested, talk to the Pastor or one of the Elders.

Sunday Afternoon Discussion Group Meetings Now Twice Per Month

Starting in January, we are expanding our Church Discussion time to twice a month. Our next discussion time will be next Sunday afternoon, January 13, at 4:00 pm, at the Butterfield’s.  The article that will be our focus is by Nathan W. Bingham and is titled “Making Prayer a Priority” It is found on page 62 of the December Tabletalk.

The second time is on January 27. The article that will be our focus is by John R. Muether and is titled “Paying Attention in Worship.” It is found on page 66 of the December Tabletalk.

If you do not have the Tabletalk, there are copies on the table at the back of the sanctuary.

Church Nursery Volunteers Sought

The church now offers a nursery for children from infancy through age 3 during morning worship. It is the intention of the Session to provide nursery attendants from congregational volunteers on a rotating schedule. If you will agree to assist, please contact Pastor Barron.

Catechism Corner

Q. 69. What is the communion in grace which the members of the invisible church have with Christ?
A. The communion in grace which the members of the invisible church have with Christ, is their partaking of the virtue of his mediation, in their justification, adoption, sanctification, and whatever else, in this life, manifests their union with him.

(Westminster Larger Catechism)

Tabletalk Moment

Strength And Courage: There is a connection between blessing and obedience, at least in the short term, even thought it is not a one-to-one correlation. (Tabletalk Magazine, January 3, page 34).

Short Items

Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper: Next Sunday morning, we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Spend time this week reflecting upon what it means to be a child of God, the sacrifice that Jesus willfully made to save you, and what it means to move forward living for Him.

Wednesday Prayer/Bible Study: Join us for Wednesday night Bible Study as we pray and study God’s Word together. This week we will be picking up at Romans 11:17.

Sunday School: This Sunday at 9:30am in the Camellia Room, we will study 2 Timothy 2 from the ARP Adult Quarterly. Our topics for Sunday will be, “Guard the Gospel Like Soldiers of Christ.” In this prison epistle, we will see how Paul encourages Timothy to carry out a mission that is greater than the two of them: the great commission.
