Finding Rest

This Sunday Pastor Barron brings a message from Hebrews 3:7-4:13 entitled “Entering God’s Rest”. The theme of this study in Hebrews is an emphasis on how the Scriptures authoritatively point to the supremacy of Christ.

“God’s true rest did not come through Joshua or Moses, but through Jesus Christ, who is greater than either one. Israel’s earthly rest was filled with the attacks of enemies and the daily cycle of work. The heavenly rest is characterized by the fullness of heavenly promise (Eph. 1:3) and the absence of any labor to obtain it.
The opportunity to enter God’s rest remains open…He is still patiently inviting his people to enter His rest (cf: Rom 10:21). In Psalm 95:7, 8 once more the author of Hebrews urges an immediate, positive response.” (excerpt from The MacArthur Bible Commentary, 2005)
