The Christian Journey Begins (Psalm 120:1-7)

Dr. Robert E. Gustafson, Jr., November 20, 2016
Part of the Morning Worship at North Greenville Church series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

We can be on a path to destruction or a path to life by repentance and faith. In times of trouble, we turn to God. Our entire selves need help--body and soul. Meshech and Kedar are places of wicked culture. Humility and repentance steer us back to the narrow road to life. Our journey begins at the cross. Jesus is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, and he will lead us in the Way to the Celestial City.

Psalm 120 (Listen)

A Song of Ascents.

120:1   In my distress I called to the LORD,
    and he answered me.
  Deliver me, O LORD,
    from lying lips,
    from a deceitful tongue.
What shall be given to you,
and what more shall be done to you,
    you deceitful tongue?
  A warrior’s sharp arrows,
with glowing coals of the broom tree!
Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech,
that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
Too long have I had my dwelling
    among those who hate peace.
  I am for peace,
but when I speak, they are for war!
