The Magisterial Grace Of Election (Ephesians 1:4-6)

Rev. Bob Anderson, March 14, 2021
Part of the Morning Worship at North Greenville Church series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

There are six aspects pertaining to election that Paul presents in the first chapter of Ephesians. These are: the mechanism of election, the timing of election, the goal of election, the purpose of election, the basis of election and the motive of election. Looking at the mechanism of election brings forth the ordo salutis, or the order of salvation. This is election, effectual calling, conversion (which is faith and repentance), justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification.

Ephesians 1:4–6 (Listen)

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
