Light In Christ (Matthew 5:16)

Part of the Morning Worship at North Greenville Church series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Four things are promised us in life in Christ. First, we will be opposed. Second, we will enjoy a life of praising God. Third is salvation. Fourth is the showing of light to the world, the gospel. In creation, God created light before the sun and the moon. He manifested light himself in creation, and later as man in Jesus Christ. John bore witness to the light that had come into the world. God will manifest light himself again in the new heavens and the new earth. Psalm 27 declares that the Lord is our light, and we need not fear. The opposite of fear is trust. John (I John) tells us that God is light. With God, there is light; against God there is darkness. The gospel of John deals with salvation; I John deals with assurance of salvation. Light is connected with God’s glory, and with life. Men love the darkness that brings death. God’s glory is brilliant light. Jesus came to show the glory of God, and to give us light. We ARE the salt of the earth. We are bringing the gospel light into the world.
