A Great High Priest Who Knows Our Needs

This Sunday Pastor Barron brings a message from Hebrews 4:14-16 entitled “God’s Throne of Grace”.

In ancient times, most of the monarchs wielding power were unapproachable, with the exception of their closest inner circle or highest advisors (see Esther, 4:11). So, if a subject wished to make a request of his sovereign king, he or she would, in essence, be taking their life in their hands by such a daring move!

It’s sobering to think of our sinful, weak beings standing exposed and helpless before a holy, sinless God. But by His mercy and Jesus’ sacrifice, the Holy Spirit calls for all to come before God’s throne, to feel certain in receiving the forgiveness and grace which is supplied through Jesus, our High Priest. This is reinforced in Philippians 4, where we find this:

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
