Reasons Not To Do Outreach (Matthew 9:35-38)

Rev. William L. BarronRev. William L. Barron, August 14, 2016
Part of the Morning Worship at North Greenville Church series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Jesus proclaimed the advent of the Kingdom of God. He did teaching and healing; showing compassion for the harassed and helpless. Judaism had become oppressive, pointing people away from the Messiah. The shepherd watches over the sheep. Israel's shepherds were not doing this. Today is the day of salvation; the spiritual harvest is ripe. We must pray for compassion for the lost and missions, which may involve us ourselves.

Matthew 9:35–38 (Listen)

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
