Tonight, December 21st at 7:00 pm, in place of our weekly Bible Study, we are hosting a Christmas Carol Sing for the residents of the Woodlands. This will be “an everyone participate” event. If you can possibly attend, it would be a good expression of appreciation to the residents and staff. It is just one way we want to say thanks to them for the generous use of this facility.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
We have been invited to the annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at the Greenville ARP Church on Saturday, December 24, at 5:30pm, in the Sanctuary. A nursery will be provided for children age 3 and under.
Short Items:
Billy Barron will preach to us Christmas Sunday.
Special Music: Mrs. Will Barron (Sarah) will sing a special anthem for Christmas Sunday worship, “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam.
Dr. Robert Gustafson has completed his guest pastor series on the Psalms of Ascent and the Christian Journey at North Greenville Church. We extend to him a hearty thank-you for squeezing us into his list of responsibilities including family, home church and duties at Erskine College and elsewhere. We appreciate his spiritual wisdom shared with our congregation. If you missed any of his sermons, you can find them on our website.
Final Sunday For 2016 Contributions: This Sunday is the final Sunday in our Church fiscal year, as our next morning worship will be January 1, 2017. If you need to make special arrangements for a last minute contribution next week, let the treasurer know as soon as possible.
Elder Training: Starting in January, we will have four classes for elder training which will lead up to the election of our first elders for the church. All of the men of the church (this both members and non-members) are invited and encouraged to be a part of these classes. Topics for the four sessions will be qualifications for the office of elder, the call to the office, the work of the elder and the session and the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Sunday School: We are continuing with the Winter 2016-2017 Adult Quarterly, “The Power Of The Gospel,” on Paul’s epistles to the Galatians and Romans. Dr. Ross’ lesson for Sunday is titled, “God Sent Forth His Son.” Our focal passage is Galatians 4: 1-31. Paul describes how we are heirs of the promise made to Abraham in Genesis, as his spiritual (not blood) descendants. The spirit of adoption has been given to us by faith, and all things will be ours in Christ Jesus. Genesis 16-17 will be our background.
